Each player is dealt a pair of cards. These can be face down or face up. In some games, a wild card is used. A player can also check, match or raise. Depending on the game, the ace may be treated as the lowest card.<\/p>\n
After a certain period of time, the dealer cuts or shuffles the deck. He or she assigns values to the chips before the game begins. When the cards are shuffled, the player with the best hand is declared the winner of the pot.<\/p>\n
