Choosing a reputable casino will ensure that your money and personal information are safe.<\/p>\n<p>There are several federal criminal statutes that are implicated by illegal online gambling. They include the Wire Act, the Illegal Gambling Business Act, and the Travel Act.<\/p>\n<p>The Travel Act is particularly relevant to Internet casinos. The act is intended to prevent individuals from engaging in illegal gambling on interstate commerce. This means that players using facilities located in other states may be subject to prosecution. However, in practice, this does not affect the number of cases brought against Internet gambling operators.<\/p>\n<p>Other laws to look out for are the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) provisions. These statutes are intended to stop a wide range of fraudulent business activities.<\/p>\n<p>Another is the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. This statute aims to stop the spread of Internet gambling by prohibiting financial institutions from accepting or processing bets made through illegal Internet gambling sites.<\/p>\n<p>While these federal statutes have garnered a lot of attention, the most important thing is to know that enforcing the law is not a sure thing. A number of state officials have expressed concerns that the Internet could be used to bring illegal gambling into their jurisdictions.
